Bolivia

1600 miles

Bolivia maybe one of the shorter legs but it defiantly will not be forgettable.
We start at the border village of Deseguado on the shores of lake Titicaca and head for the city of La Paz. Clinging to the edge of a canyon and shadowed by Mt. Illimani at 19000 feet high, La Paz is Bolivias largest city.
The next 44 miles out of La Paz will be white knuckle ridding as we wind along “The Road Of Death” towards the mountain top village of Coroico.
From here the roads do not get much better as we head through San Bora and the raw sewage streets of Trinidad before arriving in Santa Cruz de la Sierrs, the countries business centre.
Continuing along unpaved roads we reach whats known as Bolivias most beautiful city, Sucre. Situated in a valley surrounded by low lying hills Sucre is also Bolivias judicial city.
Climbing upwards we reach Potosi, the worlds highest city at over 13400 feet.
Next on the tick sheet is the town of Uyuni and the worlds larges salt lake Salar de Uyuni. The salt lake is at an altitude of 12000 feet and covers an area over 4000 square miles. The island Incahausi and the cemetery of the trains will be a highlight.
Directly south of here is the border town of San Pedro de Alacama.
